Today, I find ot very easy to let go of things. Despite being a very sentimental person, I don't get very attached to things.
But as a child I felt completely overwhelmed by clutter.
I wish someone knew how to help me through that.
Having a method, like deciding about one thing at a time. Being consistent but also taking it at a comfortable pace. Most of all, having a patient and reassuring adult next to me.
I really like how you weaved these ideas into stories. They are so much more memorable this way.
I am glad you have found a way to make those decisions now that feels not so heavy. Because children don’t have the buying power, they naturally will feel nervous not knowing what decisions they are allowed to make. If you had parents like mine, you wouldn’t be able to get rid of anything. If you did, you’d be labeled wasteful or ungrateful. Those are labels that sticks. And sometimes, people who work with me already know they need to let something go, but they just need a little nudge to reassure what they already know is true.
I like your method because it combines taking action with respect.
Not resolving the problem is unbearable. Resolving it with pressure creates disconnection.
But guiding a child to develop the skill is where the magic happens. And it's not that hard to do it, once you know how! I really enjoyed how you incorporated your strategied inside stories. 🌺💕🥰
Awesome collaboration from two of my favorite Substack creators!
