What a truly beautiful collaboration! Sheeba’s incredible storytelling skills merged with Ann’s unique ability to see what lies behind the scenes is just wonderful. It’s such a powerful post, and I think everyone can find a piece of themselves in it. However, the realization of how one’s absence highlights the other’s presence—and how value sometimes goes unrecognized—truly aches my heart. Thank you both for sharing such a deeply touching piece. 🌸✨
When we continue to collect without taking the time to let go, we eventually reach a point where there's not enough space. Sometimes we postpone the decision by squeezing everything into a smaller space. Sometimes we buy more storage. But eventually, the problem grows big enough that we have to make a choice.
I think my son's Lego collection is partly connected to an unfulfilled childhood wish of my own. I always wanted large Lego worlds and lots of figurines to play with, but for some reason, I never had them. I don't remember why. I think I just assumed my parents would say no, so I never even asked.
When my son was little, I would often change toys he received if they weren't open-ended and creative, with Legos.
Recently, we spent about three hours sorting and categorizing his collection. At first, it was very overwhelming, and I thought we'd never finish.
But we also laughed a lot while doing it.
When we were done, he looked at me with so much love and gratitude and said he didn't think any other mother would spend hours helping her child organize Lego. That moment made all the effort worth it!
