The Dooley Method is a connection-first approach to organizing with kids.

Home organizing guided by respectful parenting to reduce clutter while supporting trust, confidence, and connection.

Many families come to me feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, and disconnected. They’ve been pushing for change, but the pressure and urgency only seem to make things harder.

Does this sound familiar?

You’ve tried to organize with your family, with little success

Clutter leaves you feeling stressed, angry, or resentful

You take on the work yourself because it feels easier

You feel exhausted and unsure how to move forward

You find yourself yelling, bribing, or negotiating just to get cooperation

If so, you’re not alone.
This is exactly where many families begin.

How the Dooley Method came to be

I didn’t come to this work with a method in mind. I came to it looking for relief.

I grew up in a cluttered home where “tough love” and earning approval were the norm. Organizing offered me a sense of calm and control in the chaos. It worked—until I had kids. I found myself yelling, bribing, and threatening punishment just to get cooperation, and feeling guilty as I moved further from the kind of relationship I wanted with my children.

I began noticing the same pattern with the families I worked with. Parents, overwhelmed by clutter, invested in organizing hoping for change—only to feel frustrated when their kids couldn’t maintain the systems. Children were expected to follow decisions they hadn’t been part of, and when things fell apart, organizing became another source of tension. That disconnect stayed with me.

The Dooley Method was created to place connection first. It’s a way of organizing that brings the whole family into the process—so responsibility grows without blame or shame, and every family member feels seen and valued along the way.
